A new type of frequency selective surface(FSS)based on the aperture coupled microstrip patch is presented. The analysis employs the spectral domain moment method. The surface has a narrow bandpass response. The effects of aperture on the response of FSS is studied. Based on the analysis, a dual-polarized FSS unit is presented. The simulation results demonstrate that this structure keeps the excellent transmission stability with respect to different incidence angles and polarization.Dual-polarized FSS can be realized with the cross slot. Simulation results reveal the designed FSS has a low sensitivity to the incident angle and polarization. Experimental data from modeling and simulation through HFSS agree well with the theory results.
