Abstract:Oxidant-FeSO4 processes are established by different oxidants (including H2O2,NaClO,KMnO4,O3 and O2) and FeSO4, and the phosphate removals by different oxidant-FeSO4 processes are compared. The results indicate that the removal of phosphate has different efficiency by different oxidant-FeSO4 processes (including H2O2-FeSO4,NaClO-FeSO4,KMnO4-FeSO4,O3-FeSO4, and O2-FeSO4), while they all decrease with the increase of the pH and increase with the increase of the amount of iron salt. In addition, the removal of phosphate by adsorption is significantly lower than that by coagulation and sedimentation, because the removal of phosphate by oxidant-FeSO4 process is due to the complex role of the co-precipitation and adsorption. This study proves that oxidant-FeSO4 is feasible, and KMnO4-FeSO4 process will be a promising technology with broad application.
